Frequently asked questions
Everything you might be wondering, answered.
How does Fobalanz work?
There are two parts. First, a short questionnaire builds your profile — age, weight, activity level, health conditions, even how much sun you get — and Fobalanz turns that into your personal daily target for each of the 14 nutrients. Then you just eat: take a photo of your plate and the AI identifies the ingredients and estimates the nutrients, logging them against your targets. For packaged food, scan the barcode instead. At the end of the day you can see exactly where you landed, and what you came up short on.
How are my daily targets personalized?
When you sign up, a short questionnaire asks about your age, sex, height, weight, activity level, lifestyle, health conditions, medications and daily sun exposure. Each of those genuinely changes what your body needs — someone training five days a week needs more protein and iron than someone at a desk, and some medications affect how you absorb certain nutrients. Fobalanz factors all of it in, so your targets are built for you rather than pulled from a chart that assumes everyone is the same.
Is it really free?
Yes. The Basic plan is free forever and includes one photo analysis per day, full macro and micronutrient tracking, and your personalized targets. No credit card, no ads, and no trial that quietly turns into a subscription. If one analysis a day isn't enough, Pro gives you 150 a month and Super 500, and both add monthly and annual insights plus ingredient editing.
How do I cancel my subscription?
It depends on where you subscribed. If you subscribed on the web, cancel from your account settings — we'll take you to the billing portal, where you can also update your card. If you subscribed through the iPhone app, Apple handles the billing, so you cancel from your Apple ID: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Fobalanz → Cancel Subscription. Either way, you keep your paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for, then you drop back to the free Basic plan. Your data stays where it is.
Is my data private?
Yes, and we're specific about it. We never sell your data and never use it for advertising. Your food photos are sent to the AI only to be analyzed, and we don't keep them on our servers once the analysis is done. Your account and meal history are stored securely, and you can delete your account — and everything in it — at any time from Profile → Settings. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Is Fobalanz a medical device?
No. Fobalanz is a nutrition tracking tool, not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical advice. It's genuinely useful for seeing patterns — noticing that you're consistently low on iron, for instance — but it can't diagnose anything, and the numbers are estimates. If you're managing a health condition, or thinking about changing your diet because of one, talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian. Use Fobalanz as information to bring to that conversation, not as a replacement for it.
